Everything was shifting is inspired by the stories my great-grandmother used to narrate to her granddaughters: how she would wander mountainous landscapes as a young woman, foraging herbs and taking care of the family animals. In her adventures, she would meet weird creatures like one eyed fairies and devil donkeys. Her stories, passed on to me, filled my childhood with magic and imagination.
How can storytelling and folklore create stronger bonds between femininities across generations and challenge current patriarchal and anthropocentric views? Can they heal intergenerational trauma and work towards a re-enchantment of the world?

Through manipulating countless foraged screenshots, using digital “sculptural” tools (melting, distorting, cutting, and fusing), I craft new images that merge reality and imagination. Approaching the work from different angles, its semi-reflective surface shifts constantly, dissolving and blending with the viewer’s own image: just like looking at a wild animal: one cannot get too close, before it disappears from their view.
